Reflections

We have just celebrated an event that took place in history over two thousand years ago. We call it "Easter," although my preference would be to call it "Resurrection Sunday." It is a celebration of incredible hope because it promises eternal life to anyone who will believe and trust in Jesus Christ. Yet I look around, and I see the reality of a world drowning in hopelessness. My heart aches and is sad.

Proverbs 16:25 says, "There is a way that seems right unto man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." Let's put that into the perspective of what is happening in our country. Things are happening at many different levels that are dark. It seems that something should be done about drugs, abuse, sex trafficking, murder, and racism, just to name a few. One group of people get their heads together, and this how we need to solve this problem. Another group says “no” this is how it’s done. People jump on board and promote one idea over others and believe their solution is the best. The problem is that many of them don’t stop and think about God. The great solutions of man will at some point fail. We don't have the insight or the understanding that God has. We can't see the future, nor can we see into the hearts of people. We may genuinely seek a workable solution that will progress the human race and make us much better. But it doesn't happen because only God has the answers, and we must seek Him and His understanding through His Word. The solutions we come up with without God are doomed for failure. God did not design us to go through life without Him. We need Him!

Progressivism, whether political or religious, goes to the watering hole to quench the thirst. We can do it without God, they say. We can solve the world's problems. We can make the earth a utopia. It seems fitting to man, but it will end in destruction. Ultimately hopelessness sets in because the problems are never solved. God has the answers, and He wants to share them with you. As bright as we are, we will never solve humanity's problems without God showing and leading us in the way. Maybe you're curious, but you're not ready to step out in faith and trust God. May I suggest that you start reading God's Word? I recommend that you read the Gospel of John. It won't be all easy to understand, but God can reveal Himself to you in some pretty remarkable ways through His Word.
