She also said that LEAP is ending. If you have any questions, please let her know.

Since this is our last meeting in the basement courthouse, everyone had a story to tell about getting it ready for the senior group in 1973. There is a bit of nostalgia as we prepare to move forward to the community center. In honor of this, Gary and Linda sang a song called “Remember Me’. Remembering the good times and the bad, the friends we’ve made and friends we’ve lost, the community spirit that lives on in all of us. Thank you all for being here to make memories and move forward to the community center as we make more memories. Cards were played after dishes were done.

Flatwillow Homemakes celebrated their last meeting of the year by taking a road trip to Billings. The group carpooled from Winnett. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Sophie’s. There was a lot of laughter and visiting. Raye Anne and Luann drove, each with four people. Sandy met us at Sophie’s. Ginger’s daughter Stephanie, who lives in Billings, also joined our group for lunch. Several secret sister gifts were handed out to those who had missed a meeting or who had a May birthday. After lunch, we all stopped by Crumbl Cookie and had delicious homemade cookies. It was a beautiful day to go to Billings and have a ladies’ day out.

The next meeting will be September 12. Tentatively we will meet at Raye Anne’s home. We will make sure to let everyone know for sure as it gets closer to September.

We had to say goodbye to a pillar of our community in June. Burt Bevis, born and raised in the Winnett and Cat Creek area passed away on June 8, following a stroke prior. We will miss seeing him drive his 4-wheeler down town to get the mail and then stop by for coffee at the Winnett Bar. He loved to visit and was a friend to everyone. We send our sympathy and prayers to his family and friends. Our lives are all a bit better from having known him and we will all miss him.

This has been a wonderful year for moisture. Everywhere we look is still green and so pretty. After the last several years of drought, hot temperatures and grasshoppers, haying this year is so nice. Grasshoppers are still here, but the moisture makes such a difference in the landscape, and we all are feeling much better about everything. Hope your haying season and whatever else everyone has going on this summer is going great. As usual, the summer seems to go by so fast, we don’t even get a chance to enjoy it. Enjoy July, August is just around the corner.
