Micheal Rodney Greener

Our family is deeply saddened to announce the death of Mike (Bear) Greener on Friday June 17, 2022 due to chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Mike 67, will remain an essential part of our lives as a loving husband and father, caring brother, uncle and friend.

Born on March 11, 1955 to LeRoy and Florence Greener in Roundup, Montana. Mike developed a strong work ethic from his parents. LeRoy an oilfield Mud Engineer for Baroid and Florence a homemaker and store clerk who insisted on counting change back for her customers of J.C. Penney. Both parents had a zest for life with the love of hunting, fishing, and telling stories, all of which where instilled in their children.

Mike graduated from Roundup High School in 1973 with a well rounded extra-curricular background in Math-Science Club, Drama Club, Choralaires, Speech/Debate, Football, Golf and was always a Boy Scout. He then attended Montana State University for 2 years in Accounting but the lure of the oilfield hooked him.

After ten years of learning the art of drilling in Montana and Wyoming, Mike completed his higher education at Montana College of Mineral Sciences and Technology with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1990. Mike entered his professional career with Unocal and retired as an employee of ConocoPhillips. He served these companies well in California, Oklahoma, Michigan, Alabama, Texas, Alaska and the Northwest Territories of Canada.

His soulmate, Rosalie (Richert) Greener met the roughneck Mike in Choteau, Montana. They were wed April 9, 1984 to begin the most romantic adventure of their lives. Bear & Rosie braved the horizons hand in hand and were blessed with two children Kathryn Marie and Nicholas Sean. Mike's family life was his joy and he wholeheartedly supported his family's endeavors. Mike believed in supporting communities his family lived in through service in churches, Boy Scouting, Alaska Speedskating, Chugiak Aquatics, Alpenglow PTA, Friends of the Library and Meagher County Sportmens Association.

Mike is survived by his wife Rosalie Greener, White Sulphur Springs MT, daughter Kathryn (James Waite) Greener, Great Falls MT, son Nicholas (Ash) Greener, Butte MT, sister Glenda Wyze, Sedro Woolley WA, sister Joanne (Gary) Riley, California, brother Jonathan (Ginger) Greener, Arden NC, 22 nieces & nephews, 27 great nieces & nephews, 4 great-great nieces & nephews and BFF Buzzard Wise.

In leu of donations, Mike would want you to read a book, many books and cherish your loved ones. A Celebration of Life will be in August.
