James (Jim) Franklin Boyles

James (Jim) Franklin Boyles, of Roundup, went to the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 6, 2021. He was born in Billings, on April 8, 1943 to Charles and Annetta Boyles, their second of three kids. Jim spent a majority of his childhood in Bridger MT, before moving to Billings and completing high school at Billings Senior High.

Jim enlisted in the United States Army in 1969. He served for two years as a medical corpsman and mechanic in Korea. He received the National Defense Service Medal.

In 1981, Jim married Zelda Bauer. Together they had two daughters, Amanda born in 1982 and Megan born in 1984. They made the Bull Mountains south of Roundup their home; before moving into the town of Roundup. In August 1993, Zelda passed away unexpectedly, and Jim was left to raise the two girls alone, with the help of many in the community of Roundup.

Jim was a mechanic; the majority of his career was spent working for Musselshell Valley Equipment and C-Brewer for many years until his retirement. Even after retiring, he continued his love of mechanics working in his shop. He was very inventive, could be called a "Jack of all Trades", and if he didn't have the right tool or piece of equipment, he would make it. He could fix just about anything and wouldn't give up until he found a way. He was never one to sit around and even when he was plagued with Rheumatoid Arthritis he would push through the pain and keep going. His partner and friend J.R. will keep the shop open as that was what Jim wanted. Jim never met a stranger and was always willing to help out anyone he could in any way possible, would "give the shirt off his back if someone needed it".

Jim met Robin Soderbeck at the Busy Bee in 2000, and when their daughters became friends so did Jim and Robin. On March 20th, 2004, they were married at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Roundup. They became long time members of the church and were baptized together on December 3rd, 2006.

Jim's favorite past time was taking his fishing boat to the lakes and fishing the Musselshell River with his buddies and nephews. He and Robin enjoyed camping and boating together as well as traveling through Yellowstone National Park. One of their favorite places to relax was at Chico Hot Springs where they spent many anniversaries and made many memories.

Jim is survived by his wife, Robin Boyles, of Roundup, son James (Cyndi) Pittsenbarger of Colorado, daughters Amanda (Jason) Lauwers and Megan Boyles (Monico) of Billings. As well as step-children Tim Soderbeck of North Carolina, Sarah Soderbeck (Richard) of Nevada, Kristen (Miles) Ryan of Minnesota, and Kyle Blisse of Billings. Jim is survived by 12 grandchildren who were the love of his life; Emily and Sarah, Paige, Matthew, Samantha, Haylee, Elliana, Peyson, Linnea, Gabriel, Gavin, Kaiser, and several nieces and nephews.

Jim was proceeded in death by his parents, Charles and AnnetAnnetta Boyles, wife Zelda Boyles, brother Clifford Boyles, sister Sally Jessen, and grandson Keagan Lauwers.

For those of you who knew him, he is now "just like brand new" and there are no more "used parts".

Services will be held at St. Benedicts' Catholic Church on November 6th at 1:00 with Pastor Jason Oakes officiating. A graveside service with military honors will immediately follow at the Roundup Cemetery. A reception will be held in the basement of St. Benedict's. In honor of Jim's memory, please wear a mask and use sanitizer upon entering.

Donations may be made to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation or Emmanuel Baptist Church.
