Glenn Earl Kenda

March 10, 1928-August 20, 2021

I was the third of three children born to Joe and Louise Kenda at Klein. My siblings are Violet and Elvin. We lived in Dead Man's Coulee and attended Klein School. I enlisted in the United States Navy in March 1946 and served in the Pacific.

There I guarded Japanese prisoners of war and assisted in their repatriation to the home land. I was discharged in 1948.

I re-entered the Navy during the Korean Conflict. As a landing craft operator, I was assigned to Boat Unit One, Pacific Fleet, and landed the 1st Marine Division during the amphibious assault at Inchon. I earned the Korean Service Ribbon with 3 battle stars, Presidential Unit Citation, and received numerous commendations. I was again discharged in 1954.

I received mechanics training under the G.I. Bill, and worked for Rom Motor Co. and Hamilton Pontiac. I would later join Musselshell County as a heavy equipment operator until my retirement.

In 1955 I married Julianna Rauch and together we raised daughters Cindy and Debbie and sons Farren and Ferrel. I was preceded in death by both my wife Julie and daughter Debbie.

I've had many interests and have been involved in many community service activities locally; Kids bowling, construction of the indoor pool, working with seniors, driving the Blue Bird bus, as well as having been a regular visitor to local nursing homes, hospital, and shut-ins. I also adopted a stretch of US 87 and maintained it for 12 years until my health forced me to give it up. I was an avid hunter and fisherman my entire life. I had an extensive collection of die-cast cars and they were my pride and joy. I also built numerous model wooden sailing ships through the years. During my many years of bowling I traveled all of Montana participating in countless tournaments.

During the years I made many changes and improvements to my home at 611 Main St. and ensured a signature of my work has been left in every room.

Glenn is survived by his sister, Violet Jerin and brother Elvin and his wife Helen, daughter Cindy Lazzara (Russ), Farren, Ferrel (Chyloe), 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Roundup.

Donations may be made to the Musselshell County Council on Aging, YellowstoneGives.org, (search Musselshell Valley Community Foundation), or the charity of your own choosing.
