Lauren Mascitti

Classic Country Singer and Songwriter

Lauren is not your average country music star. Lauren is a classic when it comes to country music. Singing in the style of Rosanne Cash, Crystal Gayle, Barbara Mandrel and the soulful ladies of older country music that are so dear to true fans of country music.

Growing up Lauren was raised in Louisville, OH, (Corn Country) by her grandparents who adopted her. She started singing at a young age for her church choir. By the time Lauren was eight years old, she had made a gospel album. Her grandparents and her church spurred her on, in her interest and she continued as a young girl to begin her music career. She had an album out by the time she was eight years old, and by twelve was doing nightly shows in Branson, Missouri. From there she learned to play guitar, and began writing her own songs. Even though her music career was promising, her grandparents insisted she pursue a college degree before moving with her to Nashville. She became a Registered Nurse, and is working even now while becoming a rising country music star.

Lauren wrote the song she sang on American Idol called, "God Made a Woman", inspired by her Nana that raised her. She explained, "I just got to thinking one day about the uniqueness of being a woman, our world these days, it's wonderful because women are able to do anything we want to do. The world is our oyster, but at the same time I think, sometimes women get so caught up in trying to prove that we can do everything a man can do that we get kind of sidetracked from realizing all the things that we do that men can't do, and all the things that we were created for, hardwired for, being a caregiver, nurturer, emotional, passionate, our bodies are made for creation, so many really beautiful things about being a woman that are kind of overlooked". Lauren says her Nana was a good example to her and Lauren sees herself as a Proverbs 31 kind of woman. All of those things inspired this song.

American Idol was positive experience for Lauren. The show reached out to her after seeing her videos online. One of the talent scouts encouraging her to send in an audition. She was in Nashville, having done a record at the time, she wanted to move forward with her career and get her music heard by more people. American Idol gave her a lot of confidence in what she was doing. Lauren states that, "Hollywood week (at American Idol) is like a boot camp, everyone is going on about six hours of sleep over a three- or four-day period. Everyone there was a good singer. My heart is really in classic and traditional country. When I got to perform God Made A Woman, it was well received." She feels that is because she stayed true to herself and what she loved, and that is how she stood out. Having watched her performances online, I had a real sense of her showmanship and charm. As I interviewed Lauren, I got a sense of a very genuine, down to earth, young woman.

She explained how she got booked for the Montana Show in Roundup was through Mary Moody, who is a friend of Mike Morgan. Lauren got to know Mary through her comments on her videos and performances. Mary reached out to Mike Morgan to get her involved on the radio station and the RIDE event in July. "This has opened a lot of doors for me too", says Lauren. On social media during quarantine, she was doing classic country covers. She did a cover of "Seven Year Ache" a song by Rosanne Cash, and several other classic country favorites. These can be enjoyed on her YouTube channel.

Lauren has never been to Montana before, and is excited to see a state she has heard so much about. She has done a couple songwriter shows in Nashville, but this will be her first band show. The band with her is the same band she has played with last four to five years. They are the band who played on her record. Pete Wasner, her keyboard player is a singer/songwriter who has played for Vince Gill and wrote "Whenever You Come Around", and "Don't Let Our Love Start Slipping Away", songs that Vince performed. "The Great Larry", on the drums, has traveled with Emmy Lou Harris. Mike Bubb, her base guitar player, has toured with many stars including, Vince Gill, and Ashley Monroe.

We are very excited to welcome Lauren to our hometown. It is a special privilege to have an up-and-coming star on our stage. If you haven't already got your tickets from RIDE, don't wait any longer. You won't want to miss this show.
