Twenty-two year old Harley Yoder is a young construction entrepreneur. Building pole barn sheds and garages is his specialty. Cousin to Dan Yoder of Bull Mountain Fencing, Harley has been in Roundup for two years, originally working with his cousin Dan, and then beginning his own construction business about a year ago.

Harley has wasted no time getting busy. He is currently four to six weeks out with contracts, and has a crew of four to five guys working. The project I photographed was only one day in the works and Harley expects to have it completed in a few more days. The twenty by forty-foot shed will be completed within about five days.

Harley works with out of town customers, but will always give preference to local customers first. He says his crew also does roofing and siding. Harley's top priority is to satisfy his customer and make the project the way they want it. He does his best to keep the customer happy and follow up with communication on a prompt basis.

Harley grew up learning to build, and has plenty of experience. He likes his work to speak for itself, and hopes that word of mouth will help promote the quality of his work.

Harley works with other Amish from time to time and they often help one another, but he says that the Amish are individual in their careers and businesses. They are independent contractors with their own insurances and are often not even related. There are several different Amish businesses in the local area, I hope to have future interviews showing their workmanship.

Harley's secretary Sandi, and her husband Josh drive for the crew. Sandi takes care of Harley's paperwork and his "connection to the digital world" as Sandi puts it, as Harley prefers to keep his focus on his building. Sandi's husband Josh also works on Harley's crew. Sandi does the bookkeeping and promotional work, however Harley does the pricing quotes and direct contact with the customer.

Sandi mentioned that she has been impressed working with Harley because of his ethics, manners, and clean job site. Harley had a booth in the Home Improvement Show at the Billings Metra on the 4th and 5th .

If people have a project they would like a quote on, please contact Harley as soon as possible, because he is booked out and would like for folks to know that he may not need much time to do the project, but may not be able to get to it due to being booked out a couple of months. You can contact Harley via Sandi at 406-350-3165 or on facebook.com/amishhandymen.
