3Have you heard of CSFP?

Don’t worry most people haven’t! It’s a Commodity Supplemental Food Program for seniors 65 years and older and based on income. CSFP is an important resource that is often overlooked, due to under advertisement and knowledge. It is especially important right now with the COVID pandemic and food shortage many areas are experiencing. Normally a food package consists of; Milk, Cheese, Plant Based Protein, Cereal, Canned Meat, Pasta & Rice Products, Fruit and Juice, and Vegetables. However, we are seeing a shortage of food during this time trickling throughout this program even in Montana. So currently in a food package you may only see; Milk, Cheese, (Few Options of Plant Based Proteins), Cereal, Fruit and Juice, Rice, (Few Options of Canned Meats), and no Vegetables. Even with the currently limited food package, you will find it helpful in supplementing your grocery supply and find it financially beneficial. CSFP Applications can be found on the Area II Agency on Aging Website (https://area2aging.org) and also can be picked up in person at the Musselshell County Food Bank. Applications should be returned to the Musselshell County Food Bank.
