Letters to the Editor

Do you remember Edwin Moses? I want to mention something he said, not what he did, but just to remind you … he was a great 400-meter hurdler, won Olympic gold medals, world championships, and, in one stretch, over 100 consecutive races! (Most of the web articles, Wikipedia’s, for example, seem to have forgotten this, but one night he got into a bit of trouble – arrested for soliciting prostitution from a woman that turned out to be an undercover police officer. Talk about bad luck! One wouldn’t expect much of a penalty for a celebrity athlete and a black one, to boot; Pontius Pilate couldn’t have convicted him. Mr. Moses got a jury trial and was acquitted, so I guess the police officer had been mistaken.)

At any rate, Edwin Moses once said that whenever he was tempted to take a day off training, he remembered that somewhere in the world a competitor was working hard to be able to beat him.

I think it would be charitable and generous to classify such objectives as ardently pursuing baby-murder as a means of covering a woman’s lack of morals and discipline; allowing hideous operations on children that have been deluded into believing that their sex is a variable thing; infiltrating pornography into the classrooms of small children; and working to guarantee an enormous flow of addictive drugs into the country as taking some months or years off from trying to remain a great country, don’t you? At any rate, as our government attacks us in these and many other ways, there are other countries’ working hard to plow us under, and we know who they are and what they are doing. Well, at least we USED to, before our intelligence agencies were converted to guerilla fighters and saboteurs against political opponents.

It’s time for us to get back into training.
