Winnett's First Cancer Walk

In Memory of Loved Ones and to Honor of Our Survivors

Carol Ann Schaeffer

The Luminaries and the Cancer Walk were moved into the Winnett School Gym on June 4th, because of a storm moving into the area.

Story by Kim Tarplee, Cancer Coordinator and Leukemia Survivor

The First Winnett Cancer Walk was held on June 4th at the school gym and cafeteria. So far we have raised $2900 and placed 131 luminaries around the gym floor in memory of loved ones and in honor of our survivors. Raffle winners were Tina Rayburn winning the Farm Basket and Tom Tiarks winning the Handmade Quilt. Monies raised will be combined with money raised at the Lewistown Cancer Walk held on the 18th of August. Raffle tickets for the 90# lb Pork Bundle, $200 Beef Bundle, $500 Chico Hot Springs gs getaway and Breast Cancer Awareness Quilt are still available $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. Feel free to contact me if interested in any of these @ [email protected] or 317-446-5926.

A huge thank you to those who donated to and supported this cause. Thank you also, to everyone who helped setup, work concessions and teardown and clean-up. Without you we could not have done this. Thank you!!
