Letters to the Editor

Dear Editor-

I would like to thank the 712 members of the community who voted in the recent school board election, making their voices heard by casting their ballet, and I thank Mrs. Mozqueda and Mr. Bedford for also running for the position of trustee. I recently had a phone conversation with a gentleman in which he stated the reason I lost the election was because of these various letters in print, and my apparent negative connotations towards the District. As I explained to him, and now all of you patient readers; I didn't expect to win the seat on the Board, but felt if I was going to be the squeaky wheel of highlighting the lack of open communication and transparency, I should at least try to be an objective solution to the problem as I see it. As I penned in my previous letters, I hope this Board, who has the extensive task of propelling the education standards of the future leaders of tomorrow and running this District, remember whom they are accountable to for their actions and decisions. I further hope this community and the taxpayers who fund and support this District object or applaud the judgement of those burdened with these high standards . I have publicly and privately questioned this Board and administrators for their lack of transparency, disregard for communications, and apparent indifference shown toward the parents, the students, the staff and educators, and all others who are invested in this educational platform. It is my hope with a new administrator, communication will flow unobstructed to all who are invested in the District. In this tumultuous world, as more political educational debates happen throughout this great land, holding those educating our youth accountable to the beliefs and values our communities expect is paramount to the educational future.Thank you.

Gary Van Dyke
