The TBA Project The Final Phase Landscaping

Written by Linda Yount

If you have driven by the Musselshell County Courthouse recently, you know that Teddy Blue Abbott and his steers have finally come home. The TBA Monument Committee along with artist Greg Eiselein are delighted to present Teddy Blue Abbott Crossing the Musselshell to the people of Musselshell County.

We are now in the final phase of this nearly four-year project, that is, the landscaping. The monument is already a show stopper, and landscaping will not only enhance the area but also help preserve the monument. The landscaping planned includes but is not limited to a sidewalk around the entire base with river rock/pea gravel and various sized boulder between it and the base; plaques naming donors at various levels of giving (Drover - $1000+; Riding Point - $5,000+ and Trail Boss - $10,000+) and names of those for whom memorials were given and one with a short bio of Teddy Blue and how he ties into Musselshell County’s history; two benches and a small memorial garden for Colene Eiselein; drip irrigation; lighting; and some xeriscape plantings. Bids have been requested from two landscaping companies from Billings, one of which has already submitted a bid and the other is working one up. Two bids have been received for the concrete walkways, one of which is from a local contractor.

With heartfelt thanks to the generosity and support of not only residents of this county but people throughout the nation, all expenses incurred to date are satisfied leaving some monies to apply to the landscaping costs. However, we are still accepting donations to help with the balance. Tax deductible donations may be sent as follows: MVHM/TBA Monument, c/o Linda Yount, 320 – 4th St. West, Roundup 59072.

PLEASE, for your own safety and that of your loved ones, do not climb on the monument.
