Organizers for the 37th Montana Cowboy Poetry Gathering & Western Music Rendezvous, August 11-14, 2022, proudly announce award-winning, Western singer/songwriter, DAVE STAMEY, in concert, for the Grand Stage Show on Saturday, Aug. 13th at the Fergus Center for the Performing Arts.

Dave Stamey, born in Billings and raised in Sheperd, has been dubbed the “Charlie Russell of Western Music” by Cowboys and Indians Magazine. Stamey has been voted seven times ‘Entertainer of the Year’ and ‘Male Performer of the Year’ and five times ‘Song Writer of the Year’ by the Western Music Association.

A mule packer, a dude wrangler and a class act cowboy, Stamey grew up in a ranching culture wearing boots and jeans. As a kid, like everyone else, he idolized Roy Rogers. Stamey also identifies Jon Steinbeck, John Reese, Marty Robbins and Hank Williams as influencing his music and song writing. Stamey says, “I have a love and an interest for the West. It is my passion. I like to think of my music as a celebration of shared heritage, an appreciation of the West as both a place and a state of mind.”

Stamey’s rich life-long Western experiences with horses, cattle & dogs, inspire his songwriting and performances, which include his heart-stopping song “My Father Gave Me Montana”. STAMEY has recorded 14 albums.

Today, Stamey lives in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Central California on a cattle ranch.

Stamey was ‘discovered’ at the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, Nevada and shortly thereafter appeared on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. Stamey is no stranger to MT Cowboy Poetry Gathering. August 13th, this summer, will be Stamey’s fifth MT Cowboy Poetry Gathering appearance.

Tickets for DAVE STAMEY go on-sale, Black Friday, Nov. 26th at the Lewistown Art Center and online at MontanaCowboyPoetryGathering.com. Inquiries are also welcome at 406-781-1422.

If you haven’t had the pleasure of experiencing DAVE STAMEY in concert, don’t let this opportunity pass you by. You’ll be thoroughly entertained by the wit, humor and wonderful music of one of Montana’s own, DAVE STAMEY.
