Representative Barry Usher (R-Laurel) has announced he is running for Montana Senate District 20. Usher, currently represents House District 40, consisting of North Rural Yellowstone County (Molt, Broadview, Acton & Shepherd) and all of Musselshell County (Roundup, Musselshell & Melstone) and just finished his 3rd legislative session in the 67th Legislative session in Helena.

In the 67th Montana Legislative Session Usher served as House Majority Whip, Chairman of Judiciary and as a member of Transportation, Rules Committee and Legislative Administration Committees. Between sessions Usher has kept busy serving on the Law & Justice Interim Committee (Chairman 2019/2020 interim). Also during the 2019/2020 interim, served on the Criminal Justice Oversight Council and the Montana Supreme Court Pretrial Pilot Project Advisory Committee.

Additionally Usher is involved with the NCSL (National Conference of State Legislatures) http://www.ncsl.org. NCSL is a non-partisan organization that all US State Legislators are a member of. NCSL assist with proposed legislation research and comparative analysis, provides legislators training and lobbies the US Congress on behalf of the state legislatures. Usher is currently Serving on the Executive Board and as Vice Chairman of the Law, Justice and Public Safety Committee.

Usher ran for Senate District 20 in 2014 against Sen Duane Ankney. Usher looks forward to getting out into the eastern ½ of Senate District 20 and reconnecting with the good citizens of Eastern Yellowstone County, Treasure County, Rosebud County and Western Custer County.
