On July 17th, 1953 in the small town of Alpena, Michigan Harold Edward "Ed" Gouine would forever change the lives of those who knew him. The second of five children Ed enjoyed spending most of his time outdoors where he gained his love and appreciation for wildlife. He spent his young adult life experiencing various cities where he would pick up skills and trades such as finish carpentry, electric motor repair, and hunting. When he returned home to Alpena he was reacquainted with the now grown-up neighbor girl, whom he would then realize was the love of his life Diane Gehl. They married on February 19th, 1977 and spent the early years of their marriage riding horses as well as motorcycles. In 1983 the young couple decided to take on a new adventure and moved to Montana. Once settled into the Montana lifestyle the family grew to three when they welcomed their daughter, Megan, into the world in January of 1989. As a hunting guide through the 80's early 90s, Ed would continue to share his passion for wildlife with hunters and nature enthusiasts throughout Southern Montana and Northern Wyoming. He then went on to build his own woodworking and carpentry business which allowed him to turn clients and partners into lifelong friends. He found enjoyment visiting historical landmarks. He loved recreating and teaching the Mountain Man Era way of life. During the summers he was often found in a field putting up hay, working with his horses or helping a neighbor. Ed loved spending quality time with his family and enjoying the quiet mornings on his front porch watching animals roam while drinking his coffee.On August 7th, 2020 Ed returned to Mother Earth. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ed's life will be held in the spring of 2021. The family asks to bring all cherished memories of Ed to forever remember him by. Ed is survived by his wife Diane (Gehl) Gouine, daughter Megan Gouine, brother Rick Boettcher, sisters Julie Gouine and Louise Burke, nephews Bronson Boettcher, Greg Burke, Jamie Burke, niece Heather Howe, grandnephew Bentley Howland, along with many other relatives."We are made from Mother Earth and we go back to Mother Earth"- Shenandoah
