Give a Gift – to yourself!

December 18, 2019

Give yourself a gift for Christmas! A gift that lasts a lifetime. A gift that is highly valued and yet it doesn’t cost a dime to get started. A gift that keeps on giving.

I’m talking about the gift that adults can give themselves when they return to education. If you have applied for a job and were told you didn’t qualify because you did not finish school, here is the solution. If your child asks when you graduated, and you can’t tell them, here is the solution. If your grandchild asks about your class reunion and which one it is, here is the solution.

Come back to classes that update basic skills. Earn an equivalency diploma from the State of Montana. Do it locally.

Roundup now offers the Adult Education program that provides this diploma. Paula Walker drives from the Adult Learning Center in Lewistown to Roundup on Tuesday mornings at 9:30. Sign up with her at the Musselshell Council on Aging (Central School). There is no fee. If you are able to demonstrate independent study skills, commit to goals, and attend learning sessions with her, you will succeed. In turn, give your children and grandchildren the gift of a role model in whom they can take great pride, You. Come, commit, succeed.

When learning is completed, a final test called the HiSet is required. It is taken in Billings and has a cost of $50. To help students pay for the test, the Adult Literacy Fund is offering Christmas baskets for sale at $10 each at the Senior Center. Buy a basket of your choice and support this much-needed and beneficial program.
