Roundup Panthers

February 2, 2022

Friday evening (1/28) the Panthers hosted Huntley in a 4B District contest. The Red Devils jumped out to an early and big lead as they shot 63% from the field. The Panthers didn’t do a very good job of getting back in transition and allowed Huntley to get to the rim quite often. Late in the quarter Braedan, AJ, and Kylen strung together some made buckets and cut into the deficit to make the score 30-15. The Panthers didn’t shoot the ball very well all game but their defense improved mightily as they held Huntley to 23 points for the rest of the game. The major obstacle for the Panthers was their inability to score consistently and for an extended period of time. The Panthers finally capitalized on their free throw opportunities as they made 15 of 23. Jace came off of the bench and gave the offense a pick up as he crashed the offensive glass creating some easy opportunities and free throw attempts. Rebounding was a positive for the Panthers as Kylen and Jace had 12 rebounds each and half of those were on the offensive glass. The game was a one point affair throughout the last

two minutes and the Panthers had two opportunities to win at the end but never got shots as they turned the ball over. Huntley prevailed in a heart breaker 53-52.

Scoring was as follows: Jace Lemmel 19, Braedan Bilden 9, Kylen Wolff 8, Dustin Gairrett 8, AJ Gray 5, and Jordan Olson 3.

Saturday (1/29) was a quick turnaround as the Panthers had to travel to Red Lodge and play at 3:30. The Panthers physically boarded the bus at 11:30 and headed to play but mentally they forgot to pack their bag. The Panthers were never able to get going offensively until the fourth quarter when they scored 18 which is 2 more points than they scored in the previous three quarters. The Panthers were out of sync on both ends of the floor but managed to stay in the game with their defense. Slowly the Rams pulled away from the Panthers and dominated every aspect of the game as they won 61-30.

Scoring was as follows: Braedan Bilden 10, Kylen Wolff 7, Jace Lemmel 4, AJ Gray 3, Jared Freitas 2, Jordan Olson 2, Morgan Sanner 2, and Dustin Gairrett 1.
