Attention Water Haulers

Everyone from Roundup and the surrounding area understands the value of water. This is the life long struggle of local residents. Many people who are not on city water do not have wells, and haul water for their cisterns. Up until this past weekend, Gebhardts Sawmill offered a place for people to come fill their bulk tanks. This all changed when Kelly received a call from the DEQ (Department of Environmental Quality). The caller inquired if Kelly offered his water for public use, and if so, was he doing regular testing. Kelly was informed that he would no longer be able to offer water to the public without regular testing and an engineered water system. Kelly, weighing the undertaking, decided to that it would no longer be worthwhile for him to provide water for the community, risking the liability, time in water sample testing, and an engineered system, as he was only doing it as a service, and not to make money. For those who have used this service as their source of water for many years, this will come as a severe inconvenience as well as a new expense finding another source of water.

It is likely that the interest in Gebhardt's water viability was stoked from a Facebook post asking "Where local people get their water and if it was good to drink". As it goes, "No good deed goes unpunished", the ripple effect will create new hardships for many. Kelly's generosity to the community will not be forgotten, and hopefully those dependent on that source will find a way to get their water needs met.
