Checking fences, seems like a never-ending chore. Repairing damage done by winter’s drifts, tighten loose wires stretched by the constant passage of deer and antelope, replace posts swept away during the spring thaw. Often fixing fence becomes a great substitution for meditation or therapy. There is something relaxing and freeing about this task, alone on the prairie with just your thoughts and the wind.
