Local Man, Sage Newman, To Ride at NFR

Sage Newman, of Melstone Montana, is competing this year at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. Rodeo is a physically strenuous sport that often is deadly. Bronc riders risk their life with every ride. Over the years there have been more safety measures put in place, but it is still nearly a blood sport. To reach the National Finals Rodeo means Sage is an outstanding rider, dedicated and strong. A bronc rider competes for points and money by staying on a bucking horse for eight seconds without touching the horse with their free hand. The rider must also heel the horse with his boots.
