September 29, 2021

The NRA Foundation awarded the Musselshell Valley Sharp Shooters 4-H Club a grant for shooting sports equipment and supplies. "It is exciting to see how much the 4-H Shooting Sports Program in Musselshell and Golden Valley Counties has grown" says Candie Stamp. "As a 4-H Shooting Sports Coach it is such an honor to work with the youth in this community. I know the program is having a positive impact when Grandparents stop to visit with me and express how thankful they are that their Grandchildren have learned firearms safety and skills that allows them to share the sport of shooting. This is the third grant we have received from the NRA Foundation and this continued support is making it possible for our 4-H Shooting Sport program to continue and thrive."

The 4-H Shooting Sports Program in Musselshell and Golden Valley Counties offers safe, fun and challenging 4-H activities in Air Pistol, Air Rifle, Archery, BB Gun, Shotgun, Small Bore Pistol and Small Bore Rifle. Safe and responsible use of archery equipment and firearms is the core of all 4-H Shooting Sports programs. Through the 4-H Shooting Sports program 4-H Members can improve their marksmanship skills, have the opportunity to compete, learn self-discipline and personal responsibility, and gain life-skills that will go with them into adulthood.

The 4-H Shooting Sports program has seen significant growth in the past few years. In the 2020-2021 4-H year the number of youth participating in shooting sports in Musselshell and Golden Valley Counties increased significantly with certain disciplines more than doubling in participant numbers. There are several of the 4-H Members participating in multiple disciplines. Through the NRA Foundation grant and the equipment and supplies it has provided, the 4-H Shooting Sports program will be able to accommodate an increasing number of youth who are interested in 4-H shooting sports.
