Last Friday afternoon, I attended a problem-solving meeting called by Sheriff Lesnik. The topic was the just-completed RIDE weekend. The groups represented were the RIDE committee, VFW, Rodeo Roundup, and the Chamber of Commerce.

We discussed problem areas that occurred and how to be proactive in the future to prevent a repeat. At the end of the meeting, some barbs were thrown at the paper, which had announced the VFW would have a parade Sunday, July 4th. This newspaper has made it a policy to print informational announcements from the community at large, at no cost! I am not the one that verifies that the information is correct. I rely on the organization to demonstrate its facts. More than one individual from the VFW requested to advertise their parade, which I did at no charge! The VFW did not have a parade for reasons that only they know.

Finally, some of the attendees cannot verbalize their thoughts without using the Lord's name in vain. Discussion is fruitful; profanity is fruitless.
