Monday, July 12th at 6:30 PM “Cymbeline” is one of the last plays that Shakespeare wrote. And it was one of the first plays to appear on the London stage following a long period in which theaters were closed due to plague. An appropriate show for this year’s production of Montana Shakespeare in the Parks. A compendium of fairy tales, an evil step-mother, banished lovers, misunderstandings and misinterpretations, this tale turns on forgiveness and pardon.

The central character is King Cymbeline’s daughter Imogen, who escapes into the wilderness to avoid being murdered. Eventually, with the usual number of disguised characters, all things are discovered, relationships restored and all returned to their rightful places, At the end of the play, King Cymbeline says, “Pardon is the word to all.” Forgiving our human failings and restoring order to the world.

Come to the Roundup City Park softball field -- 9th Avenue & 4th Street East -- Monday July 12th at 6:30 PM to watch this professional production free to all.

The actors are all fully vaccinated. There will be signage reminding folks to be respectful of others and mindful of their own individual safety.

Shakespeare in the Parks is free and open to the public. Bring your lawn chairs and picnic baskets to enjoy live summer theater in the park. If the weather is inclement, the play will be performed at the Community Center, 700 3rd Street West.
