Letters to the Editor

Michael Lee McClure killed himself after a nine hour standoff with Billings’s police. Earlier that day he killed Dennis Gresham, a husband and a father of 2, for refusing to give him a cigarette or a ride.

All of this could have been avoided if our county attorney, Kevin Peterson, had done his job.

His responsibility was to seek and obtain justice. Instead he took the easy way out and accepted a plea and allowed McClure to remain free before sentencing.

Sherriff Lesnik was disappointed our county attorney let him go free; he should have been in custody. Frankly I am disgusted! You have blood on your hands Mr. Peterson. Two people are dead as a direct result of your action or rather inaction. What a waste. Waste of the witnesses’ and juror’s time. Waste of law enforcement manpower and resources in Yellowstone and Musselshell counties. Waste of an innocent life.

You refuse to do your job for this county and its people. You refuse to support our Law Enforcement Officers. It is time for you to do the right thing and RESIGN!

P. Williams
