"National Day of Prayer" May 6, 2021

Mayor’s Proclamation

From: Mayor Sandra Jones

The first Thursday in May has been a day recognized by a joint session of congress of the United States to be declared as a National Day of Prayer. And I recall on one particular year I happened to be at our nation’s capital in Washington D.C. on the day of this event. I remember how blessed and inspired I was by simply hearing the Holy Scripture being read on the lawn in front of the captial building. These gatherings and events are mobilized in a variety of ways.

The Holy Scripture tell us in Philippians 4:6-7 That by prayer and petition with thanksgiving present your requests to God. The prophet Isaiah also declared that the Lord’s House will be called a House of Prayer for all nations.

WHEREAS: I do hereby encourage the people of Roundup to join the many in our nation who are gathered together today in prayer events. With one voice may we all unite in offering prayers and petitions for our nation and our nation’s leaders as well as prayers and petitions for one another.

WHEREAS: I recognize and appreciate the effort that is put into mobilizing the various prayer gatherings across our nation today. And I commend those of the Faith community in Roundup who has mobilized this particular non-denominational prayer gathering today.

WHEREAS: The city of Roundup now joins our country in a day of prayer for our Nation, our Leaders, our Communities, our Families and our Friends.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Sandra Jones Mayor of the City of Roundup, do hereby proclaim Thursday, May 6, 2021 as “National Day of Prayer” in Roundup, Montana.
