Winnett Senior News Flatwillow News

April 21, 2021

Flatwillow Homemakers met at Sandi Gonzalez’s home in Huntley on March 9, 2021. A potluck lunch was enjoyed by all. There were twelve members present and one member absent. There were no birthdays to celebrate in the month of March. Sandi called the meeting to order, and she led the Pledge of Allegiance. There was no thought for the day. Roll call was answered with Irish jokes that Sandi had printed off and handed out. The minutes from our February meeting were read and approved and the treasurer’s report was approved as presented. There was some discussion on table favors the club is going to do for the Senior Citizens. Ginger showed a picture of their plans for the favors. They make 50 favors and took them to Seniors. There were none left over. They were really cute and a big hit with everyone. Under new business, Raye Anne talked about Deb Hill, a reporter with the Lewistown News Argus wanting to do a story on our club. Everyone was in favor and excited to meet Deb. Bonnie gave tips on a variety of subjects it was fun and interesting. It was decided that roll call for the next several meetings will be helpful tips on something. It was decided that for our April meeting, everyone should bring a gardening tip. Jean won the blind pig. Melody will host the next meeting on April 13. There will be secret sister gifts. Everyone bid on the opportunity table. It was a great day for all of us to get together after a bitter cold February. Members present were Arlene Bond, Jean Cook, Luann Knutson, Donna Lund, Raye Anne Lund, Bonnie Moore, Ginger Moore, Lillian Moore, Florence Wacker, Melody Whitcher and Babs Lea. See you next month.

April was a special Flatwillow Homemaker meeting. We met at Melody’s home. Deb Hill from the Lewistown News Argus was there. It was great to put a face to the name and talk about our club and the great times we have all enjoyed. Melody had prepared delicious turkey and gravy; everyone brought a favorite salad, hot dish, or dessert. Sandi called the meeting to order. Donna led the Pledge. Sandi presented a history of the club in some of the paperwork Arlene had found. It was fun to read how our club has changed over the years in some ways but remained the same social outing for everyone today also. One of the things I found interesting is the ladies would ride the train from Winnett to Lewistown for activities. That sounded like a lot of fun. The tracks are still here in Winnett, but there hasn’t been a train for a lot of years. There were no birthdays to celebrate this month. Roll call was answered with gardening tips. Everyone had new and different tips they have learned or tried over the years for successful gardening, whether a vegetable, herb, or flower garden. Years of wisdom and experimenting is a wealth of information. Melody had visited with Gari King and she was not able to host a ladies’ luncheon this year for May. Her schedule was so busy that there was no time. May is the last meeting of the year and we always try to do something different. We decided that at our May meeting we will go to Billings and eat at a new place called the Billings Marble Table. Sandi will call them and make reservations and get information for us. We will meet on May 11. We will car pool to Billings. As we get closer to time, we will figure out our car pool drivers. Deb Hill was able to get great pictures of our club and visit with all the members and get their ideas, hopes for the future of the club. We want to thank her for making the trip out to Winnett and being a part of our club this month. We look forward to reading the article and hopefully, Deb would like to join us again. Thank you, Deb!
