The Roundup Panthers traveled to Columbus on Friday to challenge the Cougars on their home court. From the get go the Panthers were engaged on both ends of the floor and it was total 360 from the first time they played the Cougars. Kaide got the Panthers rolling early scoring 8 of his game high 14 points in the first quarter and the Panthers trailed after the first quarter 13-12. Throughout the season the Panthers have struggled in the first or third quarter but Friday it was the second quarter that beat the Panthers on Friday. They were outscored 13-4 in the quarter and trailed 26-16 at the half. The deficit in the second quarter would end up being the difference in the game. On multiple occasions in the second half the Cougars would stretch their lead to 12-14 points and the Panthers would put a run on. Michael scored all 11 of his points in the second half. Jace scored in three out of 4 quarters. Kylen Wolff scored his in the third quarter and led the team in rebounds with 9. The Panther defense was very solid throughout the game. The Panthers did a better job of keeping the Cougars in front of them and forcing them to make tougher shots. It was an incredible improvement over the initial meeting but the Panthers were defeated 50-41.

Scoring was as follows: Kaide Griffith 14, Michael McHenry 11, Jace Lemmel 8, Kylen Wolff 4, AJ Gray 2, and Braedan Bilden 2.

Malta came to town on Saturday for a non-conference matchup with the Panthers. As was eluded to earlier the first quarter has sometimes been a bugaboo for the Panthers in the scoring department. Saturday the Panthers took it to another level not making a single point in the first half until Kylen scored midway through the second quarter. The Panthers missed jump shots, layups, and free throws. The misses wore on the Panthers. The defense was fairly solid in the second quarter but the Panthers gave up the Mustangs 8 points on offensive rebounds. They were down 21-0 before Kylen's layup. Late in the second quarter Kaide sparked a bit of a run with a couple of steals which lead to layups Kylen and Jace as the Panthers trailed 21-6. Fortunately, the second half was better on the offensive end for the Panthers. Kylen, Jace, and Michael all scored in the third quarter and the rebounding improved led by Jace (8) and Kaide (6) for the game. In the end the first half deficit was too much to overcome for the Panthers as they lost 45-28.

Scoring was as follows: Kylen 13, Jace Lemmel 6, Kaide Griffith 5, and Michael McHenry 4.
