January 13, 2021

The Mental Health Center in Billings is announcing a change of leadership. On December 31, 2020 Executive Director, Barbara Mettler retired from the organization. Former U.S. Marshall Rod Ostermiller has been appointed the new Executive Director.

Ms. Mettler served as Executive Director at the South Central Montana Regional Mental Health Center for 8 years, relocating from Colorado to accept her new position. The organization has been serving the needs of the region since 1971, focusing on the establishment, development and maintenance of high quality metal health and chemical dependency care in South Central Montana.

In accepting the new position, Mr. Ostermiller said after serving almost 30 years in law enforcement, “I know first-hand the value that quality mental health care provides to individuals, families and communities. It’s an investment in people that reduces suicide, addiction, crime, and is vital to economic development.”

He will oversee a staff of 79 employees located throughout 10 south central Montana communities, including Musselshell and Golden Valley Counties. The number for local services in Roundup is 323-1142.
