Roundup, Montana (November 25, 2020) - The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to announce and invite the public to comment on a proposal to reduce centerline rumble strip noise along 8.5 miles of Highway 87, south of Roundup in Musselshell County.

The project begins at mile post 35.5 and extends north for 8.5 miles ending at mile post 44.0.

Proposed work includes the modification of centerline rumble strips (low noise) at select locations and replacing the centerline pavement markings. The purpose of the project is to mitigate noise generated by centerline rumble strips that are near residential properties.

The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in the summer of 2021, depending on completion of all project development activities and availability of funding. No new Right-of-Way or utility relocations will be needed.

An important part of properly planning for future projects is partnering with the community. The Montana Department of Transportation welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project.
