McCleary Channel Project

September 30, 2020

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) proposes the McCleary Channel Project on the Musselshell River. Extensive land-use practices and the flood of 2011 have resulted in the loss of more than 37 river miles. The proposed improvement will increase river length, add to ground water storage, add to river and riparian habitat that will benefit fish and wildlife, provide better access to water for irrigation and houses, and create backwater habitat in the shadow of the channel plug.

The EA is available at: http://www.fwp.mt.gov - “News”, “Recent Public Notices”. If you would like to request a printed version of the EA contact the Region 5 Office at (406) 247-2940.

The public comment period will extend for (17) seventeen days. Written comments will be accepted until 5:00 P.M. October 11, 2020 and can be mailed to the address below:
