Let's Get ready To Rumble!

October 30, 2019

6th, 7th and 8th grade Boys and Girls met in Lewistown Saturday October 26th for the Lewistown Middle School Wrestling Tournament. They came from Laurel, Forsyth, Hardin and Huntley Project by invite from Lewistown Middle School. Roundup Wrestling Club (AAU) was invited to attend and participate with their Middle School aged wrestlers. The Club fielded 5 wrestlers who made a great showing and turned heads doing it. Each of the Club’s wrestlers were scheduled for 5 bouts, the largest gap in weights being a 15 pound spread. This was a great opportunity for the Clubs older kids to participate in an event truly with their peers from other schools. Here is how they did:

Dyllan Runnels is a 7th grader, he posted 4 wins and 1 loss for a 2nd place finish. All of Dyllan’s wins were Falls. His one loss was a Technical Decision. Dyllan seems calm and methodical on the mat. This was an opportunity for him to showcase what he does since matches for his size and age are slim during our regular AAU season.

Sheldon Serrano is a 7th grader, he posted 3 wins and 2 losses for a 3rd place finish. Sheldon is a fun and charismatic wrestler to watch and he just doesn’t seem to know what giving up means.

Maurice Nickell is a 8th grader, he posted 5 losses for a 6th place finish. Maurice has renewed his association with Roundup Wrestling Club for this unique opportunity and we are certain he will find his rhythm as he is a talented young wrestler.

Lukus Olson is a 8th grader, he posted 3 wins and 2 losses for a 3rd place finish. This was Lukus first tournament and he seems to have a definite knack for grappling, the Club is proud to have him.

Giovanni Fish is a 8th grader, he posted 4 wins and 1 loss for a 2nd place finish. Gio is high energy, bouncy and bendy and brings a great show to the mat.

Roundup Wrestling Club will be in action again this coming week at two Middle School events which they have been invited to. The Huntley Project Middle School Wrestling Tournament will be Tuesday, October 29th in Huntley. Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. Schools represented will be the host Huntley Project, Colestrip, Hardin, Red Lodge, Forsyth, Laurel, St. Francis, Shepherd, Columbus, Lewistown and Lockwood.

Saturday November 2nd Roundup Wrestling Club will travel to Hardin for a Middle School Tournament with wrestling scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Schools represented will be the hosts Hardin, Broadus, Shepherd, Colestrip, Forsyth, Columbus, Miles City, St. Francis, Huntley Project, Laurel, Castle Rock, Will James, Lewis & Clark, Riverside, St. Labre, Lockwood and Tongue River.

Roundup Wrestling Club would like to thank all of the schools who are inviting us in. We would also like to thank our volunteers who are helping to make this happen and especially Mr. Keith Salthe who is putting in the time as our team coach.
